Bodyboard Fin:
Developed for use on bodyboards, these small fins (2.25 inch foil base to tip) were molded from a resilient urethane casting material which gave them enough flexibility so that they would be harmless in the event of a surfing upset, unlike most surfboard fins. They were designed to be used in pairs or in a tri-fin configuration. We built a 6 cavity mold to produce a run of several hundred prototypes for the commissioning company, Toobs Bodyboards. The fin has a complex planform, NACA low drag foil section, variable thickness distribution, and a complex radius base which hydrodynamically fairs the fin/board interface.
